Terms
Terms of use
The agreement between you and Amplified Thinker. Written in plain English, because terms nobody reads protect nobody.
Last updated 26 August 2026
The short version
- Read anything here, free, with or without an account.
- Use it in your own work and share it with your team. Credit it if you republish it.
- It is a personal site, not a product. Things change, and occasionally break.
- It is written to be useful, not to be relied on as professional advice.
These terms are the agreement between you and Amplified Thinker ("we", "us") for the use of this site. Using it means accepting them. If you do not accept them, please do not use it.
Amplified Thinker is not a company. It is run by Sing Chen, so "Amplified Thinker", "we" and "us" all mean that person — who is also the data controller named in the privacy notice.
Contents
1.What Amplified Thinker is
Amplified Thinker is a library of primers, plans and articles on workplace skills, grounded in published research and in practice. Anyone can read all of it without an account. Creating an account adds three things: the site remembers your position in the primers and plans you open, you can mark them complete, and one page shows your progress across all of them. The service is provided free of charge.
2.Your account
An account is optional. What it holds and how it is handled is set out in the privacy notice; what it is for is on why sign up.
- Use an email address you control, and give accurate details. Signing up sends a link that activates the account, and you cannot sign in until you have followed it.
- You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for what happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to it.
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
- Two emails come with the account and cannot be switched off — the confirmation and a password reset — because without them the account cannot be used. Updates about new skills and features are separate and opt-in: choose at sign-up, change it on your account page, or use the unsubscribe link in any of them. Turning those off never affects the two above.
- If you think someone else is in your account, reset your password from the sign-in page — that also signs out every other device — and let us know.
3.Using the material
You may read everything here, use it in your own work, and share it with colleagues. You do not need permission and you do not need an account. A few things are asked in return:
- Credit it if you republish it. Quoting a passage, running an exercise with your team, or building on an idea is welcome — name the source and link back. Republishing whole pages as your own is not.
- No bulk copying. Automated scraping, mirroring the site, or harvesting it wholesale for another product or dataset is not permitted.
4.What belongs to whom
The writing, the plans, the design and the code of this site are ours, and remain so. The permissions in section 3 are exactly what is granted; nothing more is implied.
The site also draws on published research and on other people's ideas — the World Economic Forum's skills framework among them, along with the authors and practitioners named across the library. That work belongs to its authors, is quoted or summarised here under the usual conventions of citation, and their names, marks and titles are used only to refer to them. Nothing on this site implies that any of them endorse it.
Your progress record is yours. It is stored only to give it back to you, it is never shown to anyone else, and it is not used to train AI models. Deleting your account deletes it.
So is anything you write. You keep every right in the notes you make against news stories. You grant us only the narrow permission needed to run the site — to store them, back them up, and show them back to you. They are not published to other account holders, they are not used to train AI models, and deleting your account deletes them along with everything else.
5.Acceptable use
Now that the site stores text you write — the notes on news stories — there is a line to draw around it. Do not use a note to store or create content that is unlawful, that infringes someone else's rights, or that is meant to harass or harm anyone. Notes are private, which changes who would see such a thing but not whether it belongs here.
Do not attempt to access other people's accounts, disrupt the site, probe it for weaknesses without asking, or work around its technical limits. Do not create accounts on addresses that are not yours, or in bulk — that sends mail to people who did not ask for it. We may suspend or remove an account that does these things.
Found a security problem? Please tell us before telling anyone else, at contact@amplifiedthinker.com. Reporting something you found in good faith is welcome and will not be treated as a breach of these terms.
6.This is not professional advice
The material here is educational. It is written from research and experience and is meant to be applied and argued with — but it is general information, not professional advice about your career, your organisation, your legal position or your health. It cannot account for your situation, because it has never seen it. Where a decision matters, use this as an input and get advice that knows your circumstances.
7.Availability
We aim to keep the site running but do not promise it will be available uninterrupted or error-free. It is a personal site, maintained in the evenings, and it is provided as it is. Pages get rewritten, features get added and removed, and we may change, suspend or discontinue any part of it.
Your progress record is a convenience, not a vault. Keep your own notes of anything you would be sorry to lose.
8.Ending it
You can stop using the site at any time, and you can delete your account yourself from your account page. Deletion is immediate and permanent, with no copy kept and nothing that can be restored afterwards. If you would rather we did it, email us.
We may close an account that breaches these terms, and will tell you why unless we are legally prevented from doing so.
9.Links to other sites
The site links to research, books, articles and people worth your time. Those destinations are not ours, are not controlled by us, and have their own terms and their own privacy practices. A link is a recommendation to read, not a warranty of what is on the other end.
10.Our liability
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited under Scots law. If you are a consumer, you have statutory rights — including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which applies across the UK — that these terms do not affect, and nothing here is intended to exclude them.
Subject to that: because the site is provided free of charge, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, profit or business arising from your use of it, or from acting on anything written here.
11.Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and anything material is listed in What's New; we will give notice of material changes by email to account holders. Continuing to use the site after a change means accepting the updated terms. If a change does not suit you, deleting your account is one click and needs no explanation.
12.Governing law
These terms are governed by Scots law, and the Scottish courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the UK, this does not take away your right to bring proceedings in the courts of the part of the UK where you live.
13.Contact
Questions about these terms: contact@amplifiedthinker.com. They will be answered by the person who wrote them.
