Green and AI skills are converging into a "twin transition," and supply isn't keeping up
LinkedIn's Economic Graph data shows AI talent rapidly adding green skills (operational efficiency use up 579%, lifecycle management up 152%), while overall climate-skill growth has slowed from 5.5% (2023–24) to 4.3% (2024–25). Only about a third of Europe's AI workforce holds meaningful green expertise, even as green hiring grows twice as fast as green-skills acquisition.
A concrete example of two "future skills" narratives (AI fluency, sustainability) colliding in the same labor pool faster than training pipelines can respond — worth watching as a leading indicator for other skill convergences.
