AI is reshaping the workplace, but not replacing human judgement
A doctoral dissertation by Nurlan Musazade, defended 25 September, analysed several years of job advertisements and ran experiments on how people work with generative AI. Participants who combined AI output with their own judgement did better than those who leaned more heavily on the AI. Job ads increasingly ask for creativity, analytical thinking and systems thinking alongside AI-tool skills and traditional technical skills such as Python.
The advantage comes from integrating AI into your work, not from having access to it. Treat AI output as one input you check, not an answer you hand on, and keep a record of where you overrode or changed what it gave you: that is evidence of the judgement skill this study says matters.
